Mind, Music, Soul Week 1

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, it was a delight to play the 1937 Compton Cinema Organ at Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life for a project nicknamed “Intergenerational Organ” for the Mind, Music, Soul series on behalf of CultureNL (now North Lanarkshire Arts). This project invited care home residents to join young toddlers as they sat around the organ having a good ol’ sing song and a dance to the songs they knew and loved. I always looked forward to these rewarding sessions

I was so happy then, that an online video version of the project was commissioned and I am excited to share the first of these videos with you!

Each of the 6 sessions (posted weekly on the North Lanarkshire Council Culture Services YouTube) includes warmups, song learning and detailed looks at the Compton organ. There are three themes, and the first theme is “Beside the Seaside” — enjoy!
